Objectives
This major is aimed at training people to focus on the growing trend of the changes between media convergence and new technology of communication, to have the ability to work as editors or producers of content in digital media and planners or operators of digital product in government, news and publishing organizations, schools, network media, companies, department of cultural and innovative industry. The students of this major are required to take strong social responsibility, to grasp various knowledge about culture and science as well as information technology, to have a international view and innovative ability, to grasp systematic theories of network communication and professional skills, to get familiar with the trend of media convergence and operation process.
Requirements
The students of this major mainly receive the education about network communication, technology of digital media, scientific research methods, creative expression of digital media content, planning and operating in digital media product. And they are required to get familiar with the new trend of media convergence, the practical skills of new media, foreign languages and computer.
The knowledge and ability required for a student to graduate are:
1.The fundamental knowledge and theory of communication and network communication;
2.Knowledge and skills concerning creative expression of digital media content, planning and operating of digital media product;
3.Getting familiar with strategies and regulations on Internet;
4.Ability to cooperate, to create and to communication with foreign people;
5.Mastering of a foreign language and certain statistic analyzing method.
Length of Schooling and Credits Required
Educational system:4 years. Freshmen take the courses of fundamental courses of journalism and communication and general education. Then students can choose a major according to their needs and interests from Journalism, Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Advertising and Communication.

Professional courses: Introduction to Network Communication, Network Society, Method of Media Investigation and Analysis, Network Information Editing, News Reporting and Writing, Appreciation of Network News, E-Commerce and E-Government, Information Literacy, Web Design, Multimedia Design, Web Visual Expression, Digital Media Engineering.
Double languages courses: Appreciation of New Media Overseas, E-Commerce and E-Government.
Special courses: Introduction to Network Communication, Network Society, Multi-media News Report, Method of Media Investigation and Analysis, Web Visual Expression, Digital Media Engineering.
Main Experimental and Practical Requirements
Main experimental courses include Experiment on Flow Media, Experiment on Wed Visual Expression, Experiment on Website Design, Experiment on Network Coding, Experiment on Network Animation Design and Digital Media Engineering.
The practice education includes curricular internship, vacation internship and major internship. Teachers would guide students to have practical activities in campus according to their curricular plan. In vacation, school requires students to practice in media or participate in social activities. Students have internship in professional media in 6th semester for 3-4 months. The total time of practical internship has to be more than 30 weeks.
Requirements for Graduation
The students will be permitted to graduate only when they get full credits, finish their thesis and pass the defense. The Bachelor of Arts will be granted if a student reach the requirements.
