The 2nd “Yangtze River Civilization • Global Communication” International Communication Creativity Competition
The 2nd “Yangtze River Civilization • Global Communication” International Communication Creativity Competition is jointly organized by School of Journalism and Communication, Wuhan University, and the Yangtze River Culture International Communication Center. The competition openly invites international students from universities in Hubei Province to share their stories of Yangtze River civilization.
I. Event Content and Objectives
The competition is open to international students (including alumni) from universities in Hubei Province. It solicits outstanding works published in overseas mainstream media since September 2025. Entries should focus on topics such as Yangtze River civilization and Jingchu culture, aiming to tell authentic, multidimensional, and comprehensive stories about China from diverse perspectives.
The competition aims to:
1. Enhance International Communication Effectiveness
Encourage international students to use diverse perspectives and innovative formats to vividly explain China’s development to the world, thereby increasing the global reach and influence of Chinese stories.
2. Build Bridges for Mutual Learning Among Civilizations
Create a platform for cultural exchange among Chinese and international youth, while showcasing the openness, inclusiveness, and cultural soft power of universities in Hubei Province.
3. Empower Cross-Cultural Communication Practice
Provide a practical platform for international communication, helping students improve their creativity and cross-cultural expression abilities in global contexts.
II. Awards
Grand Prize: 1 winner; First Prize: 3 winners; Second Prize: 5 winners; International Communication Award: several winners.
III. Schedule
Submission Period: May 11 – June 30, 2026
Evaluation Period: July 1 – July 15, 2026
Announcement of Results and Award Ceremony: September 2026
IV. Eligibility
International students from universities in Hubei Province (including undergraduate, master’s, doctoral students, and alumni) may participate individually or in teams.
V. Categories of Entries
There is no restriction on format. The competition includes three major categories: written works, visual design, and audiovisual productions.
1. Written Works
Essays, memoirs, feature stories, news reports, poems, etc.
Length: 1,000–3,000 words
Languages: English or other non-Chinese languages (Chinese translation required)
2. Visual Works
Posters, photography, illustrations, graphic collections, etc.
Format: JPG/JPEG/PNG
Resolution: Minimum 300 dpi
ndividual or grouped submissions accepted
3. Audiovisual Works
Short videos, microfilms, vlogs, animations, AI-generated videos, etc.
Duration: No more than 5 minutes
Format: MP4
File size: No more than 500 MB
Chinese and English subtitles required
VI. Creative Themes
1. Cultural China
Overseas communication of traditional Chinese culture, intangible cultural heritage, traditional festivals, and folk customs.
2. Ecological Yangtze River
Environmental themes such as ecological civilization, green development, and harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.
3. Charming Hubei Province
Hubei's intangible cultural heritage, distinctive local cuisine, and landmark architecture & attractions.
4. Impressions of River Town Wuhan
Urban observations covering Wuhan’s cityscape, cultural landmarks, development achievements, and daily life experiences.
5. Humanistic Wuhan University
Cross-cultural experiences of international students in China, interactions between Chinese and international youth, and reflections on cultural integration.
VII. Submission Requirements
1. Originality Statement
All submissions must be original works. Plagiarism or unauthorized copying is strictly prohibited. Violators will be disqualified.
2. Proof of Publication
Participants must provide proof that the work has been published in overseas media from the participant’s home country or abroad (including newspapers, websites, or official social media accounts), such as links, screenshots, or publication numbers.
3. Content Standards
Content must be positive, healthy, and compliant with Chinese and international laws and regulations. Politically sensitive content is prohibited.
4. Submission Rules
Participants may enter individually or as teams.
Maximum 4 members per team
Cross-university and cross-nationality teams are allowed

| Content Quality | 40% | Distinct theme (15%), sincere emotion (10%), clear structure (15%) |
| Cultural Communication Value | 30% | Ability to arouse cross-cultural resonance (15%), embodiment of Hubei Province’s characteristics (15%) |
| Media Influence | 30% | Coverage of publishing media (15%), reading volume and other data (10%), interaction volume (5%) |

X. Notes
Published media platforms must comply with the laws and regulations of their respective countries and must not contain politically sensitive content.
The International Communication Research Center of Wuhan University reserves the final right of interpretation for this event.
